Reporting to the General Manager, the Financial Controller owns the full finance cycle for the property—monthly close, reporting, budgeting/forecasting, cash & working-capital management, tax/statutory compliance, and a robust internal-control environment. You are the hotel’s financial co-pilot and a key business partner to all departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial reporting & close: Deliver timely monthly P&L, balance sheet, cash-flow, and variance analyses; ensure accurate accruals, reconciliations, and provisions.
- Budgeting & forecasting: Lead annual budgets and rolling forecasts; challenge assumptions, model scenarios, and track performance to targets.
- Controls & compliance: Maintain strong internal controls, SOPs, and segregation of duties across purchasing, receiving, stores, and payables; oversee revenue audit and night audit integrity.
- Tax & statutory: Ensure compliance with Egyptian accounting standards and tax requirements (e-invoicing/e-receipt, VAT, withholding, stamp duty, and payroll/social-insurance filings); manage external audits.
- Operations finance: Partner with Culinary/F&B on recipe costing, inventory, and cost of sales; support Rooms on pricing/leakage controls; drive margin improvement projects.
- Treasury & working capital: Manage banking, cash-flow forecasting, collections/credit control, supplier terms, and payment runs.
- Systems & data: Own finance systems and the chart of accounts; ensure clean interfaces between PMS/POS, inventory, and ERP; elevate reporting quality and KPI dashboards.
- Leadership: Coach a high-performing finance team; provide clear guidance to HODs; present insights and recommendations at EXCOM/owner reviews.
Requirements
- 7+ years’ progressive hotel finance experience, with 2+ years as Financial Controller or Assistant/Deputy FC in an upscale/luxury property.
- Strong command of Egyptian Accounting Standards (aligned to IFRS) and local tax/regulatory frameworks, including e-invoicing.
- Hands-on with hotel systems: Opera PMS, POS/back-office, inventory/costing (e.g., MC/Adaco/FBM), and ERP (e.g., Sun/Oracle/Infor).
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling; rigorous attention to detail and deadlines.
- Proven track record improving controls, reducing cost of sales, and optimizing working capital.
- Collaborative business partner with clear communication and stakeholder influence.
- Excellent command of English (spoken & written).
